8 Best Things to Do on Valentine’s Day With Your Significant Other

Whether you’ve been married for years, or are at the beginning of a new relationship, the best gift to give your significant other on Valentine’s Day is time together. A bouquet of flowers and gourmet chocolates are certainly nice, but the time you spend together and the memories you make will last you a lifetime.

While things continue to look and feel different this year, there are still plenty of ways to make Valentine’s Day special. Here is our list of last-minute ideas to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your girlfriend, boyfriend, partner, husband, or wife.

1) Breakfast in Bed

Make your significant other feel loved as soon as they wake up! Nothing beats waking up to a romantic breakfast on Valentine’s Day and enjoying it while lounging in bed. It also provides a nice change of pace from the usual morning hustle and bustle.

Whip up some heart-shaped pancakes or waffles, grab a coffee or breakfast mimosa, and enjoy some quality time over a savory start to the day.

2) Play Hooky

With the past year we have all endured, we deserve some much-needed R&R. Use Valentine’s day to take off from work, relax and spend some quality time with your loved one. Whether it’s sleeping in, binging on your favorite TV shows all day, or enjoying a delicious meal, taking a day off to enjoy each other’s company can remind you of why you first fell in love.

3) Give Each Other a Massage

A bottle of body oil, a few candles, and background music to set the mood is all you need to give each other some much-needed massage therapy. Better yet, book yourself and your partner a spa day at Delamar Spas. All three of our Delamar Spa locations are reopened for top-notch facials, massages, and body treatments from leading aesthetician and massage therapists.  Our West Hartford Spa is also offering superior manicure and pedicure services.

4) Go on a Hike or Snowshoeing

Even though it’s winter, going on a hike or snowshoeing is a great way to relax, unwind and create fun memories together. Scenic trails can be found at nearly every corner of Connecticut. Some of our favorites include Westmoor Park TrailTrout Brook TrailWest Hartford Reservoirs and Reservoir 6Greenwich Audubon Center, and Talcott Mountain Trail.

Don’t forget to bring along your furry friend and stay the night at any of the dog-friendly, beautiful DELAMAR locations.

5) Cook Together

The way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. Cooking a special meal together with your partner on Valentine’s makes for an intimate and fun bonding moment.

Don’t have chef-worthy skills? Book a reservation at your special local restaurant or do pick up. Our award-winning Delamar restaurants such as l’escale in Greenwich, and Artisan in Southport, and West Hartford are open for indoor/outdoor dining as well as take out.

6) Take a Weekend Trip

Weekend trips with your partner is a great way to relax, unwind, catch up and escape from the busy work life without traveling far from home. Although Coronavirus is still a threat, you can still enjoy a wide range of activities in Connecticut, from shopping excursions, and museums, to outdoor hiking and skiing.

7) Take Your Partner on a Surprise Shopping Spree

Sure, online shopping is convenient (especially during COVID), but in-person shopping with your partner deserves its due. Grab your comfy shoes and peruse your local shopping hubs. Some of the most popular locations in Connecticut include:

  • Downtown Westport – Located near Delamar Southport, the Main Street area is home to mom-and-pop shops, historical landmarks, eateries, and a variety of retailers including Tiffany’s, J. Crew, Lululemon, and Anthropologie. Shop local.
  • West Hartford Center – With a charming traditional main street, the West Hartford Center is home to upscale restaurants and retailers such as Bar Louie, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, West Elm, The Cheesecake Factory, and Crate & Barrel.
  • Greenwich Ave. – The historic Greenwich Avenue consists of shops and restaurants burrowed in buildings old and new. Some of the many shops include Saks Fifth Avenue, J. Crew, Simon Pearce, Betteridge, Rag & Bone, and Zara.

8) Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Delamar
