Celebrate Labor Day 2022 in Traverse City, MI
Labor Day weekend brings a great opportunity to have a last hoorah before summer officially begins winding down. Traverse City is rich with activities for you and the whole family to bid farewell to summer, no matter how you want to do it. While you’re there, visit Delamar Traverse City where the only thing better than the beachside views is luxury amenities and the award-winning restaurant, Artisan.
Here’s what we recommend doing this Labor Day weekend in Traverse City:
Two vineyards will be offering live music over the course of Labor Day Weekend: Ciccone Winery and Boathouse Vineyards. To help differentiate the two, we consider Ciccone to be your hilltop rustic option, complete with a barn aesthetic and tasting rooms to enjoy any of the vineyards wines; Boathouse Vineyards is further, on the Leelanau Peninsula, and offers the opportunity to sit lakeside with your drink and watch the boats come in and out of the nearby docks.
Great Lakes Equestrian Festival will be running two separate tournaments over Labor Day Weekend: the Tournament of Champions and the USHJA Young Jumpers Tournament. Both provide opportunities to see jockeys, seasoned and new to the sport, compete for large sums. In the case of the Tournament of Champions, the athletes are often competing at an Olympic level, so if you have any interest in seeing a peak performance, be sure to buy a ticket and check it out!
Get Your Body Moving
Want to shake, stretch, and sun salute summer goodbye? We’ve got a list of great activities for you:
Sunrise Yoga at Mari’s Vineyards costs only $25 per person, and presents the opportunity to do gentle guided yoga in a beautiful location. Not only that, but your admission ticket also includes a complimentary post-yoga drink. After you’ve put your body at ease, one of their acclaimed red or white wines will help you settle further into your Labor Day relaxation.
Ghost tours, historic tours, sunset tours and more – there’s a host of different ways to learn about Traverse City while on foot. With the first permanent settlement by colonialists erected in 1839, there’s nearly two centuries of history for you to learn about from any of the city’s experts.
