Experience Michigan’s Springtime Festivals

Michigan is a great place to visit in the springtime. The weather is beautiful and there are lots of fun festivals happening all over the state. If you’re looking for a vacation destination that will be fun for the whole family, Michigan is the place to be! Visit Delamar Traverse City for a homebase with a gorgeous waterfront view as you traverse the state’s springtime festivals:

Blossomtime Festival – St. Joseph

The Blossomtime Festival in St. Joseph was founded in 1906 and boasts the oldest festival in Michigan. This annual event draws twenty-five cities and towns together for the weeklong Blessing of the Blossoms ceremony where you can enjoy a vintage baseball game, a youth parade, 5K run and walk, and the Mr. Blossomtime swimsuit competition.

The main attraction and finale of the Blossomtime Festival is the Grand Floral Parade which includes floats carrying the queens and courts selected by participating communities to compete for the title of Miss Blossomtime. This festival is a dazzling sight and a must-see this spring! The Grand Floral Parade will occur on May 14 at 1:00 PM.

Bringin’ Back the 80’s – Frankenmuth

The ’80s are back in TV, fashion, and music, so what better way to get the full experience than by traveling back in time for two nights in April? Frankenmuth, a city known as little Bavaria, will be hosting a blast to the past for all things 80’s where you will discover live cover bands playing your favorite hits and memorabilia from TV, toys, fashion, and more. Enter the Retro Rec Room to play on consoles such as the Atari or Sega Genesis before viewing the DeLorean parked outside.

Bringin’ Back the 80’s will also include a variety of performances including breakdancing shows. Remember to show up in your favorite vintage clothing – or visit some of the local thrift stores beforehand to get in garb. Bringin’ Back the 80’s will take place April 22 – 23.

Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival – Shepherd

If you have a craving for comfort food, visit the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival from April 21 – 24 for sausages, homemade pancakes, and local maple syrup. And there is more than just some serious eats! Enjoy live music, explore the carnival, and discover local arts and crafts.

The Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival also includes a 5K walk and run, a U.S. Army Rock Climbing wall, the Old Fashioned Plow Day, dance, bingo, and more.

Tulip Time Festival – Holland

Discover a little Netherlands in Michigan by visiting the city of Holland for their Tulip Time Festival. This festival runs from May 7 – 15 when tulips are in full bloom and celebrates their beauty and Dutch heritage. Visitors can dance, attend plays, concerts, performances and take a tulip trolly tour to see the beautiful fields of tulips bursting with color.

Visitors can join a walking tour with costumed guides through the city where they will learn about the past and present of Holland. The Tulip Time Festival also features a quilt show, carnival, arts and crafts fair, and the Dutch Marktplaats where you can taste delicious treats.
