Visit the Leelanau Peninsula

As the weather starts to turn, Leelanau Peninsula has more and more to offer those on vacation. You have the option of visiting any of the historic sites in the area, like Fishtown’s historic harbor or Glen Arbor’s cerulean bays, after the traffic of summer has left. You also have a better chance of snagging a table at any of the area’s fine dining options, like Blu or the Riverside Inn. Most important of all, you’ll see one of the 

Walk through Hickory Meadows

Is anything as scenic in fall as a walk through the woods? Located on the west side of Traverse City, Hickory Meadows is a perfect spot for nearly every nature activity you can think of: from birdwatching in the meadows to trekking up through the upland forests. While there are 112 total acres that make up the meadows, the trailed portion is relatively short – only 3 miles in total, meaning it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll in the afternoon. Come back around come winter for the nearby skiing opportunities! 

Wine Tasting on Traverse Wine Coast 

After you’ve been up and down the mountain trails and all over the peninsula, you’ve more than earned a nice glass of wine. Treat yourself to a trip to the Traverse Wine Coast, where you can sample wines from over twenty vineyards in the area. While you really can’t go wrong with any of the region’s wineries, we humbly recommend enjoying any of the varietals at Black Star Farms’ beautiful estate, or a tasting and tour of the nearby lighthouse at Chateau Chantal.
