Our Newest Partnership with New Britain Museum of American Art
At each of our locations, Delamar has been proud to integrate a unique art gallery space for our guests and other patrons to enjoy. This year, with the launch of our newest location in West Hartford, Connecticut, we’ve done the same. The West Hartford Delamar features a state-of-the-art gallery, which will feature various artists and exhibitions year-round.
We are extremely proud to announce our first exhibition — a partnership we’ve created with New Britain Museum of American Art (NBMAA). It’s called “East & West Coast Cool: American Art, 1960s to Now,” and it features permanent collection pieces from the NBMAA as well as various iconic American works from artists such as Ed Ruscha, Jim Dine, Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, and Tom Wesselmann — among others.
The New Britain Museum of American Art (NBMAA) is pleased to present East & West Coast Cool: American Art, 1960s to Now at the Delamar Hotel, West Hartford
Each of the artists listed above and all of the artists included in the “East & West Coast Cool: American Art, 1960s to Now” show share a unique fascination with pop culture. The things most of us see and use every day are to them art. And when they createwith these objects, foods, films, icons, and other cultural fragments, we — the rest of society — are able to see the beauty and uniqueness of them as well.
The work of Gary Indiana, Andy Warhol, and Jim Dine are especially stunning in this exhibition. Their works — mostly from the 70s and 80s — herald beauty and love while the works of Larry Fink and Ed Ruscha are largely focused on the “wilder sides” of humanity.
Inspiration for this exhibition stems from the current show being put on at NBMAA: “California Dreaming: Ed Moses, Billy Al Bengston & Ed Ruscha.” The exhibition at Delamar will be on the first and second floors.
