Enjoy quintessential New England winters in Connecticut. Although coronavirus is still a threat, you can still enjoy a wide range of activities in Connecticut, from shopping, and museums, to outdoor hiking and skiing. 

Take a Ski Trip

Connecticut may not be famous for its mountains, but it may surprise you to know that there is actually a good selection of slopes in the state. Here are a few ski mountains to choose from.

Ski Sundown

Located a half-hour drive from Delamar West Hartford, Ski Sundown is located on 70 skiable acres, with 16 trails for all abilities, 625 feet vertical drop, and a top elevation of 1075 feet. Whether you’re new to skiing or snowboarding, or if you’re a pro, Ski Sundown has something for everyone.

Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort

Also located just 30 minutes from Delamar West Hartford, Power Ridge offers everything from skiing, snowboarding, snow biking, and tubing. They also offer lessons for children and adults alike using Terrain Based Learning System, making learning to ski or snowboard easier and more fun.

Go on a Hike or Snowshoeing

Scenic trails can be found on nearly every corner of Connecticut. Take a leisurely walk at Westmoor Park Trail or Trout Brook Trail, or view the breathtaking woodlands at West Hartford Reservoirs and Reservoir 6. The Greenwich Audubon Center hosts seven sanctuaries and trails where you can view hawks in their natural habitat. The historic Appalachian Trail also runs through the state. The portion of the Appalachian Trail that runs along the Housatonic River is also handicap accessible.

Talcott Mountain Trail, located within Talcott Mountain State park just a quick 15 min drive from Delamar West Hartford, offers 2.5 miles of a loop trail perfect for snowshoeing. If your furry friend will be joining you on your weekend hike or snowshoeing trip, be sure to stay the night at any of dog-friendly Delamar locations.

Stamford Museum & Nature Center

Located in the woods of North Stamford, Connecticut, the 118-acre museum property is home to the 10-acre animal farm, a Tudor-style museum and gallery, 80 acres of outdoor trails, as well as a planetarium & observatory. The Bushnell

For 90 years, The Bushnell has been central to life in Greater Hartford. It is home to year-round performances ranging from the symphony to Broadway productions, to stand-up comedy.

New Britain Museum of American Art

Founded in 1902, this is the first museum in the US dedicated to American Art. The museum hosts 10,000 American works of art from 1740 to the present, and is located at a quick drive away from Delamar West Hartford.

Take a Weekend Shopping Trip

Downtown Greenwich 

Greenwich is known for its beauty and flare. Full of boutiques with unique finds as well as go-to designer shops, Greenwich Avenue has much to offer for visitors and residents. Shops and restaurants are burrowed in buildings old and new, making your shopping experience even more enjoyable. 

West Hartford Center

With all the charm of a traditional main street shopping district, West Hartford Center is a great place to shop, dine, and stroll. It is also home to Blue Back Square, which features upscale restaurants and retailers such as Bar Louie, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, West Elm, The Cheesecake Factory, and Crate & Barrel. 

Downtown Westport

Downtown Westport combines the quaint New England charm with architectural beauty and water-views.
