Wedged on a small sliver of land between Lake Michigan and Lake Leelanau is the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula and the picturesque little village of Leland. Known for its shops, restaurants, galleries, and museums all within walking distance of one another, Leland is the perfect place to spend a charming and romantic day with your partner.
Along the Leland River that connects the two lakes is Leland’s Historic Fishtown – one of the last working fishing districts on the Great Lakes brimming with shops and must try local bites.

The Mari Vineyards first began official production in 2006 and has since grown to offer an unprecedented selection of world class wines. The vineyards take pride in their exquisite red and white wines made from experimental Italian grapes paired with their traditional appellation varieties. With a breathtaking view and plenty of wines to taste, Mari Vineyards is the place to fall in love.
Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery
This family-owned vineyard and winery is located in an 1890s homestead overlooking the Grand Traverse Bay. Be sure to venture to their secret garden, located past the vineyards in the valley below. Its lavender garden is set to bloom during the summer months of July and August.
Chateau Chantal Winery & Tasting Room
Take a tour of underground wine aging caves and, once above ground, enjoy stunning views of Lake Michigan. The winery produces local Michigan varietals, such as Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and others.
Left Foot Charley
Located in Traverse City, in what used to be the Northern Michigan Asylum, Left Foot Charley offers visitors a uniquely urban wine experience. The winery serves Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and an array of other white and red wines, as well as hard cider from Northern Michigan’s finest vineyards.
