1951 BENTLEY MARK II COUNTRYMAN RADFORD
Harold Radford Coachbuilders Limited was established in the heart of burgeoning post-war London to create custom-bodied Rolls Royce and Bentley cars for the landed gentry of the English countryside. Painstakingly hand-crafted out of aluminum, this example is one of just nine ever built. Some of the custom coach work touches include a huge rear hatch, matching cut-glass cups and decanter, fold out picnic tables, and a washbasin with a shaving mirror. This exceptional motorcar has had a fascinating history including having competed in the 1954 Monte Carlo Rally. Enjoy the glide-like ride as your chauffeur takes you on a scenic drive through the Farmington Valley and Avon.
THE SCENIC DRIVE
Your driver will take you on a scenic one-hour tour starting with the serene Hartford Reservoir, then climb a steep elevation and pass the exclusive homes of Deercliff Road where you will catch sweeping views to the west of the Farmington Valley. Shoot down a mountain to a forest lined lane in the neighboring township of Avon founded in 1645. From there take in the spectacular 1920’s Cotswalds Tudor Styled architecture of Avon Old Farms School, truly a sight to behold and a perfect place to stop, stretch your legs and take a selfie.
After a short respite, continue on an easy-winding road to flat farmland where you can make a stop at quaint and familiar Connecticut tradition; the Sub-Edge Farm historic roadside farm stand for some shopping before passing the Farmington Polo Fields and heading back to your sanctuary at Delamar West Hartford. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife—you will pass a few bear crossing signs and may get lucky enough to spot one, there is a heard of iconic Belted Galloways grazing in a field, and keep a sharp lookout for the bronze Caribou!
GOURMET PICNIC EXPERIENCE
Our driver will take you on a scenic route around town and stop at a scenic spot for a picnic in collaboration with Mark & Graham that features products such as a premium picnic basket, variety of wine picnic tables to choose from and a waterproof blanket from their expertly crafted picnic collection.
